Hey folks!
By now all you book hounds are well aware of this year’s Scotiabank Giller Prize winner – but if you missed that info somehow, it’s Esi Edugyan, for Washington Black. I’m in the middle of it right now, and it’s fantastic (like it would have won if it wasn’t!)
Also, small shameless plug: keep my own novel in your head…it makes a great Christmas gift and you can buy it at most indie booksellers, as well as here.
This week we do something a little different. Our guest is Gabor Maté, physician, author, and recipient of the Order of Canada, among many other things. He worked extensively with addiction in Canada’s most challenging neighbourhood, east Vancouver. His book, In The Realm of Hungry Ghosts, is a fascinating and personal look at addiction. Hope you enjoy our conversation.
