We both circled around the Toronto scene in the 1990s, him as a member of the much-lauded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rheostatics.ca\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Rheostatics<\/span> <\/a>(one of my fave Canadian bands of all time) and me as&#8230;well, no one, really, but I worked in the biz and we had some mutual friends and acquaintances (including the late <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Quarrington\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Paul Quarrington<\/span><\/a>).\u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty sure I called Dave at home once or twice, while I was drunk and living in Japan, and I&#8217;m pretty sure we weren&#8217;t nearly close enough for me to have done that.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of these tenuous connections,\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been inclined to follow Bidini&#8217;s career, so I was happy to get to talk to him about his latest work, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.ca\/books\/250820\/midnight-light-by-dave-bidini\/9780771017759\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Midnight Light: A Personal Journey to the North<\/span><\/a>.
